ScanZa Carpentry Workshop

ScanZa Carpentry Workshop, established in Zanzibar in 1995, specializes in the manufacture of high quality furniture, fixtures and fittings, using locally sourced Cocowood and other hardwoods.

ScanZa uses timber from the senile (unproductive) African Tall Palm’s from the plantations on the island as well as from trees that are being felled to make way for developments and infrastructure.

ScanZa has grown over the years to encompass a sawmill, which ensures the best quality right from the start of the production process and we have developed a timber drying kiln that uses a combination of waste wood and solar energy.

ScanZa undertakes commissions for private and corporate customers, as well as taking on larger projects such as hotels, restaurants and offices. Our expertise encompasses environmental conditions, architectural requirements and bespoke, quality manufacturing.

ScanZa’s designs display both contemporary and traditional influences. The aesthetics of the Cocowood are enhanced with good, simple design to produce elegant and functional solutions for furniture and interiors.
